Experience the early rural New England life from 1790-1830 at Old Sturbridge Village. Re-create rural Living at New England’s largest outdoor museum with a staff of historians dressed in costume. Watch skilled craftsman using tools from the 1830’s, at the saw mill, blacksmith shop, and tin shop. Unpaved roads lead you around town to the mills, black smith shop, tin shop, two covered bridges, and village. Ride the stagecoach taking you around the village and view heirloom gardens, farm animals, and artifacts.

Watch the blacksmith using bellows, Anvils, hammers, all in the piping hot blacksmith shop. Some black smith items are sold in the gift shop.

Two tinners at the tin shop, talk to visitors as they pound, snip, bend, out tin making pans, lanterns, pails, colanders, and more. See how they did it.

Saw mill is a reproduction built in 1984 located at mill pond and empties into the Quinebaug River.

Learn about mills and water power the old fashion way. At Sturbridge village you will learn about water powered mills, wood mill, carding mill for knitting and weaving, grist mill for grinding grain, and textile mill.

Beautiful 1,400 hundred acre campground Wells State Park, a popular camping and hiking campground. Walker pond is a favorite for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.
